When to use
For the prevention and treatment of fleas in dogs weighing 4 kg to less than 10 kg. For dogs weighing less than 4 kg or 10 kg and more, use the appropriate Bolfo Gold flea spot-on for dogs product. Fleas present on the dog will be killed within one day of administration. A single treatment protects against the development of a flea population for 4 weeks. The product can be used as part of a treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis.
Restrictions on use
Do not use on unweaned puppies less than 8 weeks old.
Method of administration
Take one tube from the packaging. Hold the tube upright, twist and remove the cap. Invert the cap, twist to break the seal, and then remove the cap.
With the dog standing upright, part the hair between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible.
Place the open end of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube firmly several times to empty the contents directly onto the skin.
Apply only to unbroken skin. Do not allow recently treated animals to lick each other.
Side effects
The product has a bitter taste and salivation may occasionally occur if the dog licks the application site immediately after treatment. This is not a sign of intoxication and disappears without treatment within a few minutes. Correct administration minimizes the opportunity for the dog to lick the product.
PRECAUTIONS
- Wash hands thoroughly after use.
- Wash any skin contamination with soap and water.
- Individuals with known skin hypersensitivity may be particularly sensitive to this product.
- Avoid contact of the product with the eyes or mouth.
- If the product accidentally gets into the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water. If skin or eye irritation persists or if the product is accidentally swallowed, seek medical attention.
- Do not eat, drink, or smoke during administration.
Care should be taken to ensure that the contents of the tube do not come into contact with the eyes or mouth of the animal to be treated. Do not allow recently treated animals to lick each other.
No primary embryotoxic, teratogenic, or reproductive toxic effects were observed during studies with imidacloprid in rats and rabbits. Studies on pregnant and lactating bitches and their offspring are limited. The evidence to date suggests that no adverse effects are to be expected in these animals.
No interactions were observed after administration of twice the recommended dose of this product and commonly used veterinary medicinal products based on fenthion, lufenuron, milbemycin, febantel, pyrantel, or praziquantel. The compatibility of the product has also been demonstrated with a wide range of routine treatments under practical conditions, including vaccination.
