The Calathea Triostar is a tropical houseplant also known as the living plant. This nickname comes from a unique characteristic: its leaves close as soon as it gets dark and open again when the light returns. The Calathea originally comes from the jungles of South America, where the plant is used to high humidity. You can regularly spray the plant with a plant mister and give it small amounts of water so that the potting soil always remains slightly moist. In winter, you can give it a little less water, because as soon as the heating comes on, the air becomes drier. The Calathea is not a fan of drought. To prevent the plant from being damaged, regular spraying remains important. The best location is partial shade: light enough, but no direct sunlight. Please note: plants are living products and may differ from the photo and description. Our plants are supplied in a plastic grow pot and all plants are packed and shipped directly from the MEERgroothandel Planten nursery.

Care and location

Ensure constant, light moisture and avoid drying out the potting soil. Keep the plant regularly slightly moist and, if necessary, use a plant mister to keep the leaves moist. Take into account the higher humidity that the Calathea is used to; the dry air of heated rooms can dry it out. Preferably place the Triostar in a light spot with partial shade and avoid direct sunlight. By regularly spraying and keeping the environment moist, the leaf structure and color remain intact. This plant is a living species and may vary slightly in leaf color and size compared to the photo.
