The composition of Puur Glucosamine Extra is different for dogs/cats than for horses/ponies. The composition for horses includes ginger, among other ingredients. Horses tolerate this well. Unfortunately, dogs tolerate ginger less, so it has been omitted. The dog composition includes Boswellia.
Stiff joints and lameness at the start of movement
Properties per ingredient: Glucosamine (as glucosamine sulfate 2 KCl) is the readily absorbable form of glucosamine and is good for the development of cartilage in the joints. Contributes to flexible movement.
Chondroitin sulfate Chondroitin sulfates are building blocks for cartilage production. It is good for the synovia (joint fluid) and thus ensures good lubrication of the joints.
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is an essential nutrient for joint tissue, thus important for joint function.
Calcium citrate is important for bone formation, regulates the acid/base balance in the blood, and ensures strong bones.
Magnesium citrate is important for bone strength and has a relaxing effect.
Selenium (as -L-methionine) is an important antioxidant, working to protect cells.
Iron (as fumarate) is good for many metabolic processes. Iron is good for connective tissue. For quick recovery.
Zinc (as -L-methionine) is good for cartilage synthesis. For horses, it is better not to give in combination with too much muesli, as the phytic acid in muesli reduces zinc absorption.
Manganese (as -sulfate) is part of various enzymes, especially glycosyltransferases. These are good for the production of glycosaminoglycans in cartilage. If there is too much phosphorus in the diet, manganese absorption will be disrupted.
Copper (as -amino acid chelate) copper is an essential component of various enzymes, including enzymes that are important for connective tissue and bone formation. Copper also works to protect cells; it is an important building block of the antioxidant enzyme SOD, which protects tissue.
Boswellia serrata (frankincense tree) ensures flexible movement.

Dosage and application:

The optimal dosage 2 x daily:
Horse 1 scoop
Pony 2/3 scoop
1 scoop contains approximately 9 grams.
When your horse or pony is moving supplely again, you can reduce the dosage to once a day.
If it is difficult in practice to administer this product several times a day, once a day or once every 2 days is sufficient. In that case, give the maximum daily dosage. Even then, this product can be used effectively, but the reaction may take a little longer.
Administration can be done by adding it to the feed. Moisten the powder so that it is not blown out of the feed trough.
Recommendations for use Pay close attention to the animal's reaction. Provide necessary rest, but also ensure exercise. In case of pain during movement, it is advisable to regularly walk short distances with the animal. Especially straight-line movements are good for keeping the joints supple and strengthening ligaments and tendons. Abrupt stops and turns, such as playing with other animals, should be avoided. This places too much strain on the muscles, tendons, and joints.
Treatment duration The effect is usually visible after 1 to 3 weeks. With improvement, a maintenance dosage can be started. This is usually half of the dosage indicated on the packaging. When dosing this product, pay close attention to the animal's reaction. A higher dosage may be necessary at the beginning; this product can be safely given in a double dosage. Gradually reduce the dosage to the lowest possible dosage. This product can be given continuously for chronic conditions. It is advisable to have a stop week after every 6 to 8 weeks. This way, the 'stimulus' can be offered again after the stop week. Resume treatment immediately if symptoms warrant it.
Storage Avoid direct sunlight and store this product dry and at a temperature between 5-20°C. Keep out of reach of children. The expiry date is stated on the label and the box.
Synergy and combinations with other products PUUR Glucosamine Complete can be combined without problems with regular medication such as painkillers. If the animal is already using regular pain medication, combine both products for the first period and, if possible, gradually reduce chemical painkillers. Phytonics Omni milk can be used externally to be smeared on the joint for relaxation and relief.
Interactions with regular or natural medicines are possible. Ginger extracts can influence the absorption process of other substances as well as blood clotting.
Contraindications Use during pregnancy only in consultation with the veterinarian.
Side effects With a number of homeopathic and phytotherapeutic products, a short-term worsening of symptoms may occur at the start of treatment. This means that the animal is reacting to the product. In case of a severe increase in symptoms, halve the dosage or temporarily stop and then slowly build up again. To date, side effects of this product are not known or reported.
